FRIEDRICH VORWERK acquires meterQ

We are systematically expanding our technology business: with effect from 1 August 2026, we have taken over the business operations of Meter-Q Solutions GmbH, based in Friedberg (Hesse), through our subsidiary VORWERK Gas Technology GmbH. The site will continue to operate as a branch of VORWERK Gas Technology under the meterQ brand – the highly qualified team will remain on board and will continue to be available to our customers and business partners.

meterQ is one of the few companies in Germany that has mastered gas composition analysis to this extent and in such depth. Since its foundation in 2014, this innovative company has been developing, manufacturing and maintaining stationary and mobile measurement and analysis systems for natural gas, hydrogen and biogas – from storage facilities through transport and distribution networks to biogas plants. Its range of services extends from design, assembly, commissioning and calibration to maintenance and associated engineering services. Systems from Friedberg are now in use at almost all German network operators – a testament to the technological quality and reliability that meterQ has stood for for more than a decade. The acquired business operations also include several technologically innovative patents. One example of meterQ’s innovative strength is the MGCdirect gas chromatograph, which features a specially developed sampling probe: this returns the unused measurement gas directly into the gas pipeline without the need for a separate bypass, significantly reducing natural gas emissions compared with conventional process gas chromatographs – whilst also offering a considerably shorter response time to changes in gas composition.

This enables us to gain valuable expertise in an area that is becoming increasingly important for the transformation of our gas networks. Whether it is hydrogen blending, biomethane injection or the conversion of existing network sections, precise measurement and analysis of gas composition is crucial for a safe and efficient energy infrastructure.

With meterQ, we are expanding our expertise in gas and hydrogen technology and integrating measurement and analysis technology even more closely with our plant engineering and services. In this way, we are creating additional synergies and new growth opportunities.

We are delighted to welcome the meterQ team to our organisation and to work together to develop innovative solutions for the energy infrastructure of tomorrow.
